Resident trooper leaving Beacon Falls

BEACON FALLS — There will be a change in leadership at the Beacon Falls Police Department.

Beacon Falls Resident State Trooper Andrew Borelli is planning on stepping away from his current position, according to First Selectman Christopher Bielik.

“His request to leave is predicated on a desire to get back out on the road,” Bielik said.

Borelli will remain until his successor is in place.

“He can’t leave until we have a replacement on board. The position is never gapped,” Bielik said.

Bielik said Troop I conducted an interview with a candidate last week for the position, but no offer had been made as of this post.

Bielik, who sat in on the interview, said he gave his endorsement for the candidate to Troop I.

“I thought his enthusiasm and qualifications would be an asset to the town should he be offered the job and take position,” Bielik said.

Borelli has worked in Beacon Falls for more than three years. Bielik said it has been a pleasure to work with him.

“I found Andy very easy to work with. He was responsive when there were issues around the town. He was a good presence at the various schools. Anytime there was a need to have a uniformed presence up there he was Johnny on the Spot,” Bielik said.

A message left with Borelli was not returned as of this post.
