PROSPECT — Marion Elizabeth Bernier, 98, of Prospect entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 at the Glendale Center in Naugatuck. Marion was born on March 22, 1916 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Walter and Lena Marietta (Palmer) Hankey and was a Naugatuck resident for most of her life.

Marion was a graduate of the practical nursing program and was employed as piece worker on an assembly line until her retirement. Her favorite pastimes were baking, gardening, she was avid horseback rider and extremely fond of horses; and was a voracious reader, having enjoyed many novels. She was a devoted mother, who put family above the rest.

She is the beloved mother of Dennis Bernier and his wife, Rosemary, of Norwalk; JoAnn Jackson and her husband, Jerry, of Norwalk and Bette-Jean Napolitano and her husband, William, of Middlebury. Marion is also survived by one grandson. She is the sister of Edna Marie Lyons. She was predeceased by her sister, Bernice “Babe” Lillian Wargo.

Marion’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck. Her burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
