Obituary: Frank D. Bona

NAUGATUCK — Frank D. Bona passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Diane (Farina) Bona.

Frank was born in Waterbury the son of the late Frank and Ethel E. (Gothberg) Bona. He attended local schools as well as the University of New Haven. He was a manufacturing manager for 42 years having worked his way up from toolmaker at Bristol Babcock. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp., First Marine Division Armored Tank Unit during the Korean War.

Frank was a member of the Marine Corp. Association, the Korean War Veterans Association, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the American Philatelic Society. He served as advisor for Junior Achievement in Waterbury schools.

Besides his wife of 31 years, Frank is survived by his son, Steven Bona; his grandson, Robert Bona presently serving in the U.S. Air Force; his daughter in-law, Roberta Bona; his brother-in-law, Conrad Hager; his three nieces, Marcia Matcheson, Kristen Gorham and Jeanne Hager; many great-nieces and great-nephews as well as his best friend, Jim Hanley. Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his sister, Ruth Hager.

The family would like to thank Dr. Huebner and the Glendale nurses, physicians assistants, nurses aids, physical therapists and support staff for all their kindness and wonderful care. God bless all of the angels working in St. Mary’s Intensive Care Unit who helped Frank go peacefully to be with God.

A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Grove Cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
