To the editor,

Lezlye Zupkus has earned a second term as our representative in the 89th for many reasons. Although outnumbered by the opposing party, she continues to fight for our beliefs and understands that we do not need higher taxes to increase the state’s ever-growing “safety net.” Nor do we need another multi-million dollar busway.

Lezlye fights for a safe environment for adults and children by opposing any type of early release for our “good” criminals. She is fighting against programs that increase the size of government and opposes record-setting tax increases that shift an ever-increasing tax burden to local property taxes.

Lezlye knows that our future annual budgets can no longer be balanced with fiscal gimmicks. Lezlye truly wants a state where our retired citizens and many others can afford to live. She is a strong supporter of our public schools and recognizes the many complex and diverse needs of all students. Lezlye Zupkus understands our needs and has demonstrated that she is willing to fight for the taxpayers in the 89th. She has earned a second term.

When we look at the record of what Hartford has produced, anyone with some common sense would agree that we need to continue the fight for change. With our high taxes and over regulation, our state continues to become the least desirable place in the country in which to live and retire. Let’s take a step forward. We need to continue to fight for change in Hartford. Along with Lezlye Zupkus, we need leaders like Tom Foley and Joe Markely and others who believe in a smaller government, run by common sense policies that citizens deserve. Together they will continue to bring a fresh, positive, common sense voice to our dysfunctional state government.
