NAUGATUCK — Two Naugatuck schools were temporarily placed on lockdown early Monday after a man who lives in the area in between both schools threatened to commit suicide, police said.

At about 9:30 a.m. police received a report of a potentially suicidal man on May Street and that he may have a handgun. City Hill Middle School and Maple Hill Elementary School were locked down as a precaution, said Lt. Bryan Cammarata, police spokesman.

Police were able to talk to the man without incident and nobody was injured. The lockdown was lifted about a half hour later.
