Obituary: Bruce J. Papa

Bruce J. Papa passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Glen Hill Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was 61.

He was the son of the late Bruno A. and Avril E. Smith and Papa, born on Jan. 8, 1953 in White Plains, N.Y.

Bruce was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School he later moved to Claryville at the age of 19. He as the past cvhief of Calryville Fire Department; he had a passion for bass fishing and the many tournaments he entered. He would initiate many tournaments for fishing and snowmobiling. He was a member of the snowmobile association. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend to all that knew and loved him; he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his brother, Barry Papa and his wife, Eve; his nieces and nephews Shannon, Brendon, Christopher, Rachel, Stephanie and Zachary and a host of friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Firematic Service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Claryville Reformed Church, 946 Claryville Road, Claryville, NY 12725, on Friday, Oct.17, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Claryville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.
