Letter: State has real over-spending problems

To the editor,

The USPS delivered a mailer last week that looked like the world had turned upside down. The former Democrat officeholder in the 89th is now claiming that she is a fiscal conservative who voted for $1.6 billion in tax decreases. Certainly not an area where she has any experience, but doesn’t she understand that if you decrease taxes they go down; and Connecticut’s taxes haven’t gone down in the last 40 years? That’s like when the “soon-to-be-former” Gove. Malloy claims that things here in Connecticut are good and getting better. It makes you wonder what Connecticut they are living in.

We’ve got some real over-spending problems in this state, and the first step in solving any problem is admitting there is one. We all know Malloy sculpted the $1.8 billion record tax increase and if elected he’ll do more of the same. As to Nardello’s claim of voting for $1.6 billion in tax decreases; take a look at your checkbook and see if you think your taxes went down. Saying something loud and often doesn’t make it true, and you can’t solve a problem by pretending there isn’t one. There is no way that anyone should ever want to see the Malloy-Nardello tandem writing checks again that we have to cover.

I’m asking everyone who wants to help put Connecticut back on the right track on Nov. 4 to vote for Tom Foley for governor, Lezlye Zupkus in the 89th and Joe Markley for state senator. They are the team that understands that you can’t spend more money than you have, and that Connecticut taxpayers are done paying for broken promises. Help bring Connecticut back — vote for the entire team on Row A.
