SEYMOUR — Republicans have endorsed Robert Willis to run for state representative in the 105th House District.

Willis, 30, of Seymour was chosen to fill the vacancy left when Republican Len Greene Jr. dropped out of the race in late August. Willis will challenge Democrat incumbent state Rep. Theresa Conroy for the seat in the district, which represents Beacon Falls, Derby and Seymour.

Willis is the vice president of marketing at a company in West Haven, according to a press release. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Albertus Magnus College.

Willis was previously a member of the Fairfield Republican Town Committee and volunteered for many Republican campaigns across Fairfield County, the release states.

“I am determined to get Connecticut get back on track,” Willis said in a press release. “I love this state. It is my home. I know many individuals and families that are struggling due to the bad policies made in Hartford. It is becoming harder every year for people to live their lives to the fullest without the government getting in the way. We had the biggest tax increase in state history under Gov. Malloy and it affects everyone from mom-and-pop stores to large businesses. It scares me that Connecticut has been ranked the worst state in the entire country for annual economic growth. I am ready to fight for change so (young and old) families can live their lives without the weight of heavy debts — written by people that do not have their best interests in mind.”
