HONOLULU, Hawaii — Robert Joseph Ambrose, 70, of Honolulu, Hawaii, a retired Hawaiian Airlines employee and Air Force veteran, died in Honolulu on June 6, 2014.

He was born in Waterbury, Conn. to Joseph and Mary Ellen (Dwyer) Ambrose; he was the second oldest of four children. He attended Naugatuck High School.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After an honorable discharge, he was employed at Hawaiian Airlines from 1968 until he retired in 2003. He married Marjorie M.J. Loo on Sept. 19, 1974 and they lived in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He loved all people and life. His favorite hobbies and pastimes were tennis, bicycling and he was a spectator of all sporting events.

Wife Marjorie, daughter Dianne (Kaulana) Park, son Daniel (Lori Ann) and five grandchildren, Dante, Micah and Kawai Park, Oliver and Madeline Ambrose survive him; also sisters Jo-Ann (Robert) Aquavia, Sharon (Peter) Zguzenski and Jean Orsatti; nieces and nephews Leslee (Kevin) Ducey, Leah (Andrew) Worwood, Robert Aquavia and Daniel Orsatti.

His funeral service was held on June 26, 2014 at Diamond Head Mortuary. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Naugatuck, on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014
