PROSPECT — Voters will decide in September whether Cheshire will be allowed to purchase a small portion of land in Prospect.

A town meeting will be held Sept. 2 to determine whether 1.74 acres in Prospect can be included in Cheshire’s recent land purchase.

The town of Cheshire applied for a grant from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to finance its recent purchase of 122 acres of the “Puchalski Property” on Mountain Road in Cheshire. Approximately 1.74 acres of that land is in Prospect.

Cheshire plans to keep the land open to the public for passive recreation and managed as open space.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Prospect Town Hall. A copy of Cheshire’s application is on file in the Prospect town clerk’s office.
