NAUGATUCK — Ion Insurance Corp. has purchased a commercial building downtown where it will move its operations in mid-October.

The company announced last week that it will move from its current location at 270 Church St. to 24 Cherry St., the Viera Building, where Manuel Viera had an insurance and real estate agency.

The company, which is affiliated with Ion Bank, says that the new headquarters will give the company a larger and more visible location.

At 5,000 square feet, the new location will provide the company with a 21 percent increase in usable office space, according to a news release. The more spacious accommodations would enable the company to add up to 10 new work stations to accommodate potential staff increases, which could take place through either additional hiring or potential acquisitions, said David Rotatori, president of Ion Insurance and the chief financial officer of Ion Bank.

“When you consider the additional space we gain, the increased visibility and the opportunity to both redesign the look and feel of our workplace and to make a large number of technological enhancements and improvements, you can begin to appreciate why this move makes a lot of sense for us,” Rotatori said.
