Two hospitalized after crash Thursday

NAUGATUCK — Emergency services personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 63, North Church Street, near the intersection with Buckingham Street at 2:47 p.m. Thursday.

Two people were transported to local hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, Fire Capt. Richard Alfes said.

A Toyota SUV and a Nissan sedan were involved in the accident and collided nearly head-on, he said. Firefighters hyper extended a car door to get one of the vehicle occupants out, he said. Both vehicle sustained heavy damage.

Only the drivers of both vehicles were in the cars. The names of the vehicle occupants were not available as of this post.
