PROSPECT — Town residents are saving money on their prescriptions.

Residents have saved over $13,000 through the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities Discount Card program, according to information supplied to the town by CCM.

The program supplies residents in participating towns with a prescription card. The cards, which are administered by ProAct, Inc., cost nothing to the town or residents, and can be used in place of regular insurance to receive a discount on prescriptions.

The Town Council approved the program in July 2013. The first cards were used by residents in November 2013.

Since that time, the cards have been used a total of 203 times by 137 cardholders for a total savings of $13,206, according to CCM.

Each cardholder saved on average $65 or 58 percent off of each prescription.

Mayor Robert Chatfield pointed out this program is available to every resident.

“I’m very pleased with how it’s going,” Chatfield said. “I hope, after reading this, more citizens will take part in this program. We have a stack of cards at Town Hall should they have lost theirs.”
