NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck’s annual fireworks celebration has been moved to Sunday night.

The celebration, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, was moved due to the forecast of heavy rains. According to The Weather Channel there will be scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, some of which will be severe.

The fireworks company was unable to put on the show on the original rain date of Saturday.

The schedule of events remains the same.

The evening will culminate with a fireworks display scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. The fireworks will be set off from Rotary Field on Hotchkiss Street. The public is urged to utilize viewing locations around town, including downtown and Old Firehouse Road.

Rotary Field, Hotchkiss Street and the Salem Bridge will be off limits to spectators.
