NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Veterans Council’s POW/MIA Committee is holding a POW/MIA vigil Saturday on the Naugatuck Town Green.

The vigil will be held, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The purpose of the vigil is to keep the public aware of the ongoing issue of military personnel who are prisoners of wars and missing in action from all wars and remain unaccounted for.

During the vigil, mock prisoners will be placed in one of two bamboo cages for one hour. An opening ceremony will be held at 8:10 a.m. the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks #967 will present a Flag Day ceremony at 4:10 p.m. The closing ceremony will be held at approximately 5:10 p.m.

Doris Maitland, the sister of Sgt. Andre R. Guillet of the Air Force, will be the guest speaker. Guillet has been MIA since 1966. The vigil is open to the public.
