NAUGATUCK — Peter John Pawlyk, 48, of Naugatuck, died peacefully on June 1, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. orn in Derby on March 29, 1966, he was the son of Michael Pawlyk of Ansonia and the late Helena Lypen Pawlyk.

Though disabled his entire life, Peter’s smile and strength was a source of inspiration to all he came in contact with. The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Alternatives Inc., Yorktown and Fieldstone Group Homes and the many physicians and nurses of Waterbury Hospital for the compassionate care given to Peter over the years.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his devoted brother, Michael A. Pawlyk of Ansonia; uncles, Jacob Lypen and his wife Barbara of Ansonia and Peter Lypen and his wife Luba of Derby; aunt, Melania Lypen of Ansonia; cousins Maria Telep and her husband Michael of Ansonia, Mary Faass and her husband Adam of North Haven, Andrew Lypen and his wife Beata of Orange and Stephen Durkot of Nevada; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Ukraine. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two aunts, Anna Lypen and Martha Durkot.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
