WOLCOTT — Jay E. Poust, beloved husband of Nancy (Farrell) Poust, passed away at Waterbury Hospital Monday, June 23, 2014 surrounded by family.

Jay was born on Nov. 1, 1946, son of the late Roy and Betty Poust. He graduated from Naugatuck High School and Richer College. Jay served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973. Jay managed the family garage, Poust Service Station, until becoming employed by the state of Connecticut Judicial Marshal Service. He was a member of the VFW 201 Auxillary and the Eljs Club 265. Jay loved all sports, fishing, golf, and softball. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Giants, Duke and UConn basketball and football teams. Jay coached girls basketball and softball. He enjoyed cooking, trips to the casino, vacations in Saratoga and Rhode Island.

In addition to his wife, Nancy he is survived by his daughter Janice Jensen and her husband Mark and a grandson, Kagen. He also leaves Nancy’s children, Carol, Eddie and his wife Dawn. Jay was also “Poppy” to her grandchildren, Kelsi, Craig and Randy. He also leaves a sister, Sandra Dunn and her husband Tom, plus several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck from 9 to 11 a.m. The service will be held at the funeral home immediately following the calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
