NAUGATUCK — Francisco P. “Chico” Amador, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was husband of Maria (Oliveira) Amador.

Mr. Amador was born in Pardilho, Portugal on Oct. 22, 1939, son of the late Amaro Ferreiro and Maria Isabel (Pinho) Amador. He was a longtime Naugatuck resident, immigrating from Portugal to the United States in 1969. He retired nine years ago from LG Defilice Constuction Co. after 30 years of service, and was a member of Teamsters Local 390.

Francisco served in the Portuguese National Army while in Portugal. He was a member and volunteer at the Naugatuck Portuguese Club for many years. He enjoyed soccer and was a loyal fan of Sporting Clube de Portugal. Mr. Amador was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Besides his wife of 43 years, he leaves his daughter Olimpia Azar and her husband Nicholas of Longmeadow, Mass.; his brother, Arlindo Amador and his sister, Maria Da Luz Amador, both of Portugal; his loving grandson, Richard Nicholas Azar; several sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law; 23 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Maria Dos Anjos Amador of Venezuela. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Waterbury. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
