NAUGATUCK — Three borough men were arrested Saturday night following a drug deal that turned into a robbery and assault, according to police.

Officers responded to the home of 21-year-old Ryan Sears, 124 Coen St., at about 7:15 p.m. for a reported assault. As officers investigated, they determined the assault occurred during a drug deal gone bad, according to police.

Police reported Sears agreed to meet Jonathan Sego, 20, of 933 Rubber Ave., to sell him some marijuana. Sego arrived in a car driven by John Burns III, 24, of 327 Spring St. When Sears put his hand into the car and gave Sego the marijuana, Sego told Burns to drive away, police reported.

Sears was dragged by the vehicle. Sears told police he was dragged about 150 feet down the road. He was later evaluated by an emergency medical technician, but refused medical attention, police said. He sustained injuries to his hand and foot, police said.

Sego and Burns were located later, with the help of a police K-9 unit, in Naugatuck and taken into custody.

Sego and Burns were charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree conspiracy at robbery, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, interfering with an officer, possession of controlled substance: less than 4 ounces of marijuana, non-student in possession of drugs near a school zone and breach of peace.

Sego is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on June 25. He was released on a $15,000 surety bond.

Burns was given a court date of June 16 and released on a $25,000 surety bond.

Sears was charged with possession of controlled substance: less than 4 ounces of marijuana, non-student in possession of drugs near a school zone, and illegal possession with intent to sell. He is scheduled to appear in court June 25 and was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.
