BEACON FALLS — A Woodland Regional High School student was arrested Tuesday night after police said the teen made a threat against the school.

According to a state police report, the Prospect Resident State Trooper’s Office took a threatening complaint Tuesday made against the school. The nature of the threat was not disclosed in the report, but police said it was not a specific threat to any student or employee.

The suspect was identified as a 14-year-old student, who was subsequently charged with breach of peace and threatening, according to the report. The student was not identified due to being a juvenile.

Region 16 Interim Superintendent of Schools Gail Gilmore said the incident occurred off school grounds and not during school hours. She said police called her at home Tuesday night to inform her of the threat.

“It was brought to my attention, and we reacted immediately,” Gilmore said.

Gilmore said there was a police presence at the school Wednesday.

Woodland Principal Kurt Ogren said there was no disruption to the educational environment. He thanked police for handling the situation very professionally.

Gilmore said the district has taken disciplinary action against the student and may consider further action. She didn’t specify what action was taken.
