NAUGATUCK — Mary Kathryn (Clisham) Martino, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Emil Michael Martino to whom she was married for 51 years.

She was born May 6, 1934 in Pittston, Pa. daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn I. (Carey) Clisham.

Mary was a graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1951 and worked as an administrative assistant at Hillside Middle School prior to her retirement. A deeply religious Catholic, Mary was devoted to the rosary and a member of the Legion of Mary. She volunteered at Glendale Health Center where she led the residents in the weekly rosary. In addition to her faithful works, Mary enjoyed spending time with her husband and large extended family. Her greatest joy in life was being Nana to her five beloved grandchildren.

Besides her loving husband, Mary is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Lisa Martino of New Canaan; her son, Raymond Martino of New York, N.Y.; her daughter. Susan and her husband Matthew Arciero of Avon; three brothers. William E. and his wife Dorie Clisham of Hawaii, Dennis “Ned” and his wife Johanna Clisham of Southington, and Ronald J. “Ronnie” and his wife Margie Clisham of Vernon; a sister. Mercedes “Cedy” Fredsall of Wolcott; and five grandchildren. Emily, Michael, Christopher, Sophia and Gabriela. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her six brothers, Stephen A., Patrick “Buddy,” Bruce R., Paul “Carey,” Thomas A., and John “Deacon” Clisham; and four sisters, Anita M. Morgan, Jacqueline F. Gardner, Joan A. Guiliano and Briday Carser.

Mary’s funeral will be held 11:45 a.m., Monday June 2, 2014 from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
