PROSPECT — Mrs. Christine F. (Harkness) Edmondson, 88, of Prospect, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Henry M. Edmondson.

Mrs. Edmondson was born in Waterbury on Aug.22, 1925 a daughter of the late Angus and Martha (Hackney) Harkness. She was retired from Uniroyal Inc. where she had worked in the offices for many years and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect for many years.

Mrs. Edmondson is survived by four daughters, Janice Mallon and her husband Charles of Prospect, Nancy Litke and her husband Stephen of Naugatuck, Catherine Valinsky and her husband Paul of Prospect and Patricia Cyr and her husband Robert of Naugatuck; a son, Charles Edmondson and his wife Kathleen of Watertown; three sisters, Blanche Vardon of Beacon Falls, Margaret Spina of Florida and Ann Gore of Colorado; a brother, Alexander Harkness of Thomaston; grandchildren, Michele Sinatra, Thomas Mallon, Tracy Roberts, Jeffery Litke, Jesse Cyr, Nicole Cyr, Derek Valinsky, Connor Valinsky and Megan Edmondson; great-grandchildren, Eric Normand, Patrick, Devin, Lily and Hope Mallon, Alyssa and Christina Roberts and Lauren Sinatra and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Lachlan Harkness.

Mrs. Edmondson’s family would like to thank the staff of the Waterbury V.N.A. Hospice especially Jeff, Sharon, Rosalind, Cindy, Pam and Hattie and also her nurses Nicole and Tina for the compassionate care that they provided.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
