BEACON FALLS — The 2nd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta will be held this summer at Matthies Park, and the Parks and Recreation Commission is looking for interested crews to race.

The regatta is scheduled for July 12 on Carrington Pond at Matthies Park. The commission is seeking town organizations, businesses and individuals that want to build a boat and enter the race.

The boats must be entirely made of cardboard. Each boat must have a minimum crew of two people. There is no metal allowed in the construction of the boats. Duct tape, packing tape and Gorilla Glue are allowed to hold the boats together at the seams. However, epoxy and tar are not allowed and boats can’t be wrapped in tape.

Forms and a signed waiver from each crew member must be submitted to register for the race. For more information, call Steve Ruhl at (203) 723-4663 or visit www.bfpr.org.
