Naugatuck Woman’s Club

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Woman’s Club is accepting applications for its annual scholarships.

The club awards two $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who live in Naugatuck and attend area high schools. Beacon Falls Rotary Club

BEACON FALLS — The Rotary Club of Beacon Falls will award $500 scholarships to two graduating Woodland Regional High School seniors.

To be eligible the seniors must be planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must submit their high school transcripts, a list of community service hours and a 250 to 500 word essay answering the question, What does “peace through service” mean to you?, with their application. Applications should be returned to the Woodland guidance office.

Perugini Charitable Trust

Applications are now being accepted for the Camille B. Perugini Charitable Trust annual scholarship. 

The scholarship is available to all Naugatuck, Prospect, Beacon Falls, Wolcott and local area high school seniors who demonstrate scholastic achievement, community involvement and financial need.  

Scholarships can range up to $2,000 per recipient and there will be multiple winners.

Winfred B. Langhorst Memorial Scholarship

NAUGATUCK — St. Michael’s Episcopal Church of Naugatuck is offering the Winfred B. Langhorst Memorial Scholarship. 

The scholarship is offered to a resident of Naugatuck, or a registered member of the church. The student must be a graduating senior from an accredited area high school or an accredited parochial or preparatory school, who is planning to attend college or another post-secondary institution of higher learning. 

Interested students should contact their guidance department for an application, or contact St. Michael’s at (203) 729-8249. The deadline to submit applications is April 30.

Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship

PROSPECT — The Prospect Historical Society is accepting applications for the Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship.

The scholarship is $1,000. Applicants must be Prospect residents, and graduating seniors who will be attending an institute of higher learning in the fall. The scholarship is awarded based on an applicants’ scholarship, financial need, service, and a short essay about Prospect.

Applications are available in most high school guidance offices, Prospect Town Hall and the Prospect Library. Applications are also available online at www.prospecthistoricalsociety.com. The deadline to submit applications is May 2.

Naugatuck Parent School Council

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Parent School Council is offering $500 scholarships to two Naugatuck High School seniors planning on attending a two- or four-year post-secondary institution. 

Applications are available in the NHS guidance office. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, have volunteered for civic, community, religious or other non-profit organizations, including activities at school, and submit an essay.

Applicants will be interviewed by the committee. The deadline for submissions is May 2.  For more information, call Chris Almeida at (203) 632-5819.

Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan is accepting applications for the two $1,000 scholarships.

The Donald G. Brubaker Memorial Scholarship is open to high school seniors, who plan to continue their education and bank customers or their children regardless of residency.

The Ronald D. Lengyel Scholarship is available only to Naugatuck High School seniors who plan to further their education.

Applications are available at each branch of the bank, online at www.nvsl.com or from area guidance counselors. Completed applications must be returned to Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan by May 9.

George A Sabo Jr. Memorial Scholarship

PROSPECT — The Prospect Democratic Town Committee is offering a $1,000 scholarship in the memory of former Prospect Mayor George A. Sabo Jr. 

The scholarship is open to all high school seniors who are Prospect residents and entering college this fall. Applications are available in the guidance office at Woodland Regional High School, the Prospect Library and Prospect Town Hall. Students can also request an application by emailing Prospect Town Committee Chair Eileen Cranney at ecranney91@gmail.com. 

Applications are due by May 23. Applications can be returned to the Woodland guidance office or through email to Cranney.
