BEACON FALLS — The Beacon Falls Rotary Club is seeking three families interested in hosting an exchange student during the 2014-15 school year.

The student will be attending Woodland Regional High School. The Rotary Club is looking for families in Beacon Falls and Prospect willing to host this student for approximately three months over the 10 months the student will be in the area.

The Rotary Exchange Student Program has a very comprehensive set of policies for the behavior of incoming and outgoing students and their host homes, which includes restrictions on driving, drinking, drug use and school attendance.

There is no compensation to the families, though the Beacon Falls Rotary Club will provide the student with a spending allowance to pay for activities.

Rotary District 7980 provides a local coordinator to check in with the student and family, and approximately once per month holds an event or trip for all of the exchange students in the area.

The host family does not need to have a child attending the high school, though it is preferable that there are other children in the home.

For more information, contact the Beacon Falls Rotary Youth Exchange Officer Michael Krenesky at (203) 558-8565 or Mkrenesky@beaconfallsrotary.org.

  1. I’ve just learned of the possibility to have a young woman vs. a young man accepting an exchange with us. If you are interested in hosting and this makes a difference, please call and let’s discuss the opportunity. Having hosted and had a daughter in the program, this is a great way to expand your extended family, make lifelong friends, and for some open the door for international travel in the future.

  2. The Beacon Falls Rotary Club is still accepting applications from Beacon Falls and Prospect Families to be a host family for a student from Germany. The student will be attending Woodland Regional High School for the upcoming school year. The student will arrive around mid-August.
