WATERBURY — Mr. Richard C. Gotler, 51, of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 peacefully at home. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Therese (Lago) Colella-Gotler and the proud stepfather to Domeneca and Angelia Colella.

Richard was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on Nov. 14, 1962, son of the late Viola (Cosgriff) Gotler and Robert Gotler. He was a 1980 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and later graduated from the Baron Institute of Technology. He worked many years at Acme Auto Parts and Fleet Pride. Richard cherished the friendships from those times. He will miss laughing and spending time with Stacy Richardson, Brett Emons and the many others who have touched his life.

Besides his wife and stepdaughters, he leaves a brother, Donald Gotler and his wife Marylou of Waterbury; a cherished aunt, Rebecca Reardon of Oakville; and many cousins. He also leaves his life long friends Jim and Midge Apicello, their son Steven and their daughter Angela, his goddaughter whom he adored.

The family would like to tank Dr. Rockoff’s office; Waterbury Hospital: ER, Pomeroy 5, and GI staff; the Lever Center and the Waterbury VNA.

In honoring Richards wishes, there will be no calling hours and he requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Waterbury Connecticut Teachers Credit Union, in the name of Therese Colella-Gotler, 773 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT 06762. A mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 145 Buckingham St., Oakville on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the Old Pine Grove Cemetery. Prospect Memorial has been trusted with the arrangements.
