PROSPECT — Mr. Lino “Lee” DeJesus Fernandez, 73, of Prospect, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS unit surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Celia Rosa (Rodriguez) Fernandez.
Mr. Fernandez was born Feb. 9, 1941 in Oriente, Cuba a son of the late Enrique and Caridad (Fonseca) Fernandez. He arrived in Waterbury from Cuba in 1970 and moved to Prospect in 1979. He was retired as the former owner of Lee’s Tile and also worked at Fleisher Finishing in Waterbury and the Home Depot in Waterbury. He enjoyed tennis, baseball and fishing but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Fernandez is survived by a son, Lee Fernandez and his wife Jillian; two daughters, Dunia Rodrigues and her husband Armando and Jennifer Britton and her husband Charles; a brother, Juan Emilio Fernandez; two sisters, Caridad Rosa Fernandez and Clara Luz Fernandez; six grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Rodrigues, Chase and Cassidy Britton and Jackson and Isabella Fernandez and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Reina Fernandez and a brother, Ramon Enrique Fernandez.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m.
