NAUGATUCK — Mr. Burton M. Gladstone, 79, of Naugatuck, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit. He was the loving husband of Mary (Boroski) Gladstone.

Mr. Gladstone was born in Hartford on April 7, 1935 a son of the late Moe and Betty (Rosenberg) Gladstone. He was retired after working for many years as an optician at the Walmart Vision Center in Naugatuck and had also previously worked at Lens Crafters. He was a licensed optician since 1970, an avid Boston Red Sox fan since 1940 and also an avid UConn women’s basketball, Boston Celtics, and New York Giants fan. He loved all animals, especially his dog Brutus who he will meet up with on the “Rainbow Bridge” and his cats Ebony and Rudy, who were his constant companions.

In addition to his beloved wife Mary, Mr. Gladstone is survived by two daughters, Brenda Myska and her husband John and Marla Warnat and her husband Brian; granddaughters, Marissa and Karin Myska and Makayla Warnat; a grandson, Justin Warnat, all of Bristol; stepsons, Joseph Poremba of Shelton and Steven Poremba of Naugatuck; a brother, Marc and his wife Carol of St. Augustine, Fla., and his favorite nephew and niece Art and Tina Gladstone of California and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Brian; a brother, Stuart and a sister, Lana Wheatley.

Private funeral services and burial in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect has been entrusted with arrangements.
