NAUGATUCK — Borough resident Felipe Flores will be honored Friday morning as Naugatuck’s Earth Day Mayor of the Day.
Flores will be recognized during a ceremony at 10 a.m. at Town Hall.
Mayor Robert Mezzo announced the honor on his blog. According to the post, Flores was an early supporter and advocate of preserving the Gunntown property as passive open space. The Gunntown Passive Park and Nature Preserve was opened in 2010.
“It is not the person but all the different people and organizations that have worked in Naugatuck to preserve the environment who are honored and to be celebrated on this day,” Flores commented in the blog post.
Following the ceremony, Flores will instruct an outdoor Tai Chi class at the story telling area at Gunntown at 11 a.m.
