Obituary: Lois (Desjardins) Anderson

BRANFORD — Lois (Desjardins) Anderson of Branford died Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Rafael’s Hospital with her granddaughter Paige by her side.

Lois was born in Waterbury on May 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Romeo and Aurelie (Michaud) Desjardins. Lois attended Prospect schools and graduated from Wilby High School in 1960.

Lois is predeceased by her husband Mark Anderson, former pastor of the United Methodist Church of Branford. Lois is survived by her daughters, Deanna Legg of West Virginia and Laura Machnicz of Wallingford; her son Jeffrey Marslano of West Virginia; six grandchildren including her granddaughter Paige Machnicz who Lois lovingly raised for 14 years.

Lois is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Holland of Florida and Sarah Smedes of Prospect and her brother Fred Desjardins of Maine as well as several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Smedes Daley and Kate Smedes whom she was very close with. Lois is predeceased by her kid brother Rene (Curly) Desjardins of Maine. Lois’ extended family includes Laurie and Roger Gagnes of East Haven and their sons, William and Daniel, who were always there for Lois.

Lois’ family wants to thank Dr. Allan J. Rodrugues and the staff of Chapel Pulmonary & Critical care of East Haven for the extended and wonderful care given Lois during her illness.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of life at the United Methodist Church, 811 East Main St., Branford on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Lois’ memory may be sent to the United Methodist Church in Branford.
