NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Nancy (Darling) Wilmot, 73, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening Feb. 23, 2014, at her home. She was the wife of Louis Wilmot.

Mrs. Wilmot was born in Haverhill, Mass., Jan. 4, 1941, a daughter of the late Warren and Catherine (Wilson) Darling. She was a graduate of Lycoming College in Pennsylvania and received her master’s degree from Danbury State Teachers College. She taught elementary school in Ridgefield for several years and was church school superintendent at the Hillside Covenant Church, where she was active in many other ways.

Nancy was devoted to her family and lovely home as well as to her church and treasured friends. She was an enthusiastic fan of UConn women’s basketball. She had wonderful early memories of visits to her family in Orleans on the Cape and in later years looked forward to times spent at her condo in Brewster, Mass. She was very appreciative of the help and support of David and Christine Wilmot as her health declines in the past few years.

In addition to her husband of 42 years, Lou, she is survived by a daughter, Becky Lu Wilmot of Southington; brothers, David Darling and his wife Ann of Berkeley Springs, W.V., and Peter Darling and his wife Kaye of Newtown; brothers-in-law Richard Wilmot and his wife Helen and David Wilmot and his wife Christine of Naugatuck, George Wilmot of Bryans Road, Md., Robert Wilmot and his wife Kathleen of Ocala, Fla., and her sister-in-law Cynthia Phipps of Barkhamsted; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at The Hillside Covenant Church, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., is assisting the family with the arrangements.
