Verilli earns All-Academic honors

WATERBURY — Gabby Verilli, of Naugatuck, was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Fall All-Academic Team.

Verilli, who plays soccer at Post University, earned the honor for the third time in her career. In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the spring semester.

Verilli is a biology major and her GPA for the fall semester was 3.82.

Harris earns national recognition 

NAUGATUCK — Daniel Harris, a Naugatuck resident a physician assistant at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, has been awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Emergency Medicine by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Harris is one of only 108 certified physician assistants nationally to recently earn a CAQ from the commission. He was awarded a CAQ in emergency medicine, a distinction earned by meeting licensure, education and experience requirements and then passing an exam in the specialty.  He is one of eight certified physician assistants in Connecticut and 530 certified physician assistants nationally to earn a CAQ since the program’s inception in 2011.

Tarsi graduates from Clemson University

CLEMSON, S.C. — Sara Jillian Tarsi, of Naugatuck, graduated from Clemson University Dec. 19 with a bachelor of science in biological sciences.
