BEACON FALLS — Police are asking the public for help to find out who shot a cat in Beacon Falls in mid-November.

According to a press release issued by Connecticut State Police Troop I in Bethany, the shooting occurred on Nov. 11 in the area of Burton and Munson roads. The shooting was reported to police on Nov. 18 by Animal Friends of Connecticut, according to the release.

No further details were given in the release regarding the shooting other than the pet cat was operated on and the prognosis for recovery was good.

According to George Murtha of Animal Friends of Connecticut the cat’s owner couldn’t afford the necessary medical procedures and the group paid for them. He said the cat is going to be fine.

Animal Friends of Connecticut is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot the cat, Murtha said.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call Trooper Andrew Borelli at (203) 729-3313.
