PROSPECT — Prospect Congregational Church’s annual Carnival and Fall Festival returns this weekend.

The festival will be held on the Town Green and the church on Center Street. The weekend kicks off Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. with a night of carnival activities, including a DJ and games.

The festival runs from 12 to 10 p.m. on Saturday and the day includes karate and fencing demonstrations and a birds of prey exhibit. There will also be a Zumba demonstration and class and the carnival’s first ever tiny tot tractor races for children up to 5 years old.

The band Mia and the Riff will perform Saturday.

On Sunday the festivities will run from 12 to 6 p.m. including a truck and motorcycle show from 12 to 4 p.m. Trophies will be available for several classes of motorcycles and trucks.

A Craft Fair & Business Expo on the Green featuring numerous vendors will be held Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 12 to 6 p.m. respectively.
Congregational Church spokeswoman Amy Stewart said the combination of the carnival, the expo along with the motorcycle and truck show has helped the carnival become a very popular event.

“We’ve had a lot of success bringing in diverse groups of people,” Stewart said.

Even though the events are so different, they are still focused on being a family-friendly environment.

“It’s a fun family event. We get a lot of families,” Stewart said. “We try to offer something that will provide a little something for everybody.”

According t a press release from the church there will be a DJ on the opening night. On Saturday there will be live music, karate, fencing, and Zumba demonstrations, a birds of prey exhibit, and “tiny tot tractor race” for children up to five years old.

Carnival rides will be running the entire time the carnival is open. Wristbands will be available for those who want to go on the rides multiple times, Stewart said. There is no cost to get into the carnival.

“Most people look for this at this time of year because they know its coming,” Stewart said.
