5K to benefit Naugatuck man
WATERBURY — The 2013 Bob Veillette 5K Road Race and Walk will be held Saturday at Library Park at Grand and Meadow streets.
The race begins at 1:30 p.m. and will be held rain or shine. There will be a 5K running route and a 1-mile walking circuit. The registration fees on race day is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 years old and under.
All proceeds go towards ongoing medical and living expenses that allow stroke survivor and Naugatuck resident Bob Veillette to live at home with his wife Bonnie. Veillette was left with locked-in syndrome after a stroke in 2006 and is paralyzed from the nose down.
Before his stroke, Veillette was well known in greater Waterbury as an accomplished jazz pianist and was the former managing editor of Waterbury Republican American.
