BEACON FALLS — A new business is getting ready to move into the Pinesbridge Industrial Park.

United Rentals, an equipment rental company based out of Greenwich, has purchased a new space in the industrial park at 8 Alliance Drive. According to the company’s website United Rentals, which was founded in 1997, is the largest equipment rental provider with over 830 sites in 49 states and 10 Canadian provinces.

According to First Selectman Gerard Smith the site is approximately 8 acres and the building is 15,000-square-feet.

This will not be a traditional Untied Rentals location, Smith said.

According to Smith, United Rentals will be renting heating and cooling units and generators to large companies, such as hospitals, for when their equipment stops working out of the Beacon Falls location.

Smith said the company came to look at the industrial park and decided it was the perfect place for them to set up a business because of its proximity to Route 8.

“I think it’s great that we have a company with the reputation and clout of United Rentals move into Beacon Falls,” Smith said. “It puts Beacon Falls on the map with corporate America.”

Economic Development Commission Chairman Jeremy Rodorigo said the company will help broaden the town’s tax base because of the amount of equipment they are bringing to the new site.

“It’s what we need to have a strong economic balance in town with businesses and residents,” Rodorigo said.

Exactly how much the town will reap in taxes is unclear right now. Rodorigo said an assessment of the company’s assets will be done once the company is moved into the industrial park.

United Rentals is scheduled to move into its location by the end of the summer.

Rodorigo added he’s also heard good things about the company.

“Untied Rentals has a great reputation as a company and a community partner,” Rodorigo said.

Messages left for representatives of United Rentals were not returned as of this post.
