NVHDSEYMOUR — The Naugatuck Valley Health District, in conjunction with StayWell Health Center of Waterbury, will provide a new service for district residents.

The Early Intervention Services program, which provides free and confidential testing for HIV/AIDS, will be available, as well as assistance in locating resources for health care within the community outreach, education and case management services to residents of the central and lower Naugatuck Valley, according to a release from the district.

The EIS program staff will be at the district office at 98 Bank St. on the first and third Mondays of the month, beginning from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 19. The district serves residents in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton.

According to the release, the program’s goal is to decrease the number of individuals who are unaware of their HIV status, reduce the number of people who become infected with HIV and to increase the number of HIV positive individuals in care.
