Commission approves extra pay after grievance
According to the grievance filed in May, Poundstone acted as commander of the overnight shift while its former commander, Lt. Bryan Cammarata, was reassigned to day shift to become the administrative lieutenant. According to the police union contract, sergeants earn lieutenant pay when they fill in for a lieutenant who is absent for longer than 30 consecutive days.
Poundstone claimed he was owed lieutenant pay from Oct. 24, 2012, to Jan. 14 of this year, and again from Feb. 26, 2013 to March 25, 2013.
Police Chief Christopher Edson and Human Resources Director John Lawlor denied the grievance, sending it to the police commission. The commission approved it last month after an executive session.
