Phoenix Stage Company announces auditions

PhoenixStageCoNAUGATUCK — The Phoenix Stage Company is holding auditions for its upcoming production of “Suite Surrender.”

Auditions will be held June 17 and June 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the theater, 686 Rubber Ave. Early arrival is appreciated. The theater is seeking a cast of four men and five women for this production. All roles open to audition. Auditions will be read from selected passages from the script. 

“Suite Surrender” is a comedy set in 1942 and centers on two of Hollywood’s biggest divas who are assigned the same suite at Palm Beach Royale Hotel.

Cast Requirements:

BERNARD S. DUNLOP: General Manager of the Palm Beach Royale Hotel and Spa; dapper man in his 50s. Somewhere under the calm surface of his polished demeanor is a hysteric screaming to come out.

CLAUDIA McFADDEN: America’s beloved Matron of Song, larger than life; moves like an elegantly dressed tornado. Must be able to sing.

ATHENA SINCLAIR: Agreat star of stage and screen; moves with all the confidence of the Hollywood royalty she is. Must be able to sing.

MURPHY STEVENS: Athena’s personal secretary, female.

MR. PIPPET: Claudia’s personal secretary; carries Mr. Boodles, the dog.  Nervous

DORA DEL RIO: A gossip columnist; Hedda Hopper on speed.

MRS. EVERETT P. OSGOOD: A society matron, and president of the Palm Beach Ladies for Unity. Stylish and a bit daft. Sings, but not necessarily well.

FRANCIS: A bellhop, one time lover of Murphy.

OTIS: A bellhop, more nervous than his partner.
