Friday, March 22, 2013

ProspectPolicePROSPECT — The Prospect Resident Trooper’s Office continues to investigate a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 79-year-old woman during the Feb. 8 blizzard.

Mary McCormack, of 7 Straitsville Road, was snowblowing her driveway when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle at about 8 p.m., state police said. McCormack was pronounced dead at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Resident Trooper Matt Comeau said state police still do not have a description of a suspect vehicle.

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, McCormack died of multiple blunt traumatic injuries, and her death was accidental.

Comeu said anyone who may have been on Straitsville Road that night between 8 and 9 p.m. is asked to call the state police barracks in Bethany at 203-393-4200.
