An organization that represents state heating oil and gasoline dealers not only has a new name, it now has a new leader.
The Connecticut Energy Marketers Association changed its name in January from the Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association. Shortly after the rebranding, its president, Eugene A. Guilford Jr., announced plans to step down after 10 years. He has since been named CEMA’s National and Regional Policy Counsel.
CEMA said its board of directors on Tuesday appointed Chris Herb of Naugatuck to serve as acting president. He has been with the organization for 12 years, most recently as vice president.
“I’m humbled and privileged to represent the local family businesses that comprise CEMA,” Herb said in a press release. “I will do my very best, every day, to work as hard as they do to keep their customers happy. I look forward to forging strong relationships with other state, regional and national associations in which we share common goals. CEMA will continue to protect and promote petroleum marketers as we engage legislators and regulators in Connecticut.”
Herb spent two terms on Naugatuck’s Board of Mayor and Burgesses, from 1999-2003, and also previously served as a state legislative aide.
The CEMA board said it is “looking at internal candidates” to permanently fill the position.
