BEACON FALLS — The driver of an SUV who was injured Thursday when a Metro-North Railroad train collided with his vehicle has been identified by authorities as a Seymour resident.
Jeffery Renker, 59, of 30 Patton Ave., has been treated and released from Waterbury Hospital for his injuries, a hospital spokesman said Saturday.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department continues to investigate the accident, said Marjorie Anders, a Metro-North spokeswoman.
There were about 30 people onboard the train, and none were injured, she said.
Jeremy Rodorigo, a Beacon Hose Company No. 1 spokesman, said at 3:07 p.m., the man’s Chevrolet Blazer had come onto or close to the railroad tracks when the SUV was struck by the train.
Anders said the accident involved a southbound train that had left Waterbury at 2:50 p.m. It was due in Bridgeport at 3:42 p.m., she said. The accident happened just north of the Beacon Falls train station.
