Donations sought to send care packages to troops

Friday, October 26, 2012

NAUGATUCK — Dolly Lengyel of Personal Pampering is once again organizing a drive to put together personal care packages to send to troops serving overseas for the holidays.

Last December, Lengyel and volunteers sent over 100 packages were sent to troops from New England serving in Afghanistan.

This year the packages, which include toiletries and clothes, will be shipped on Dec. 10.

“I would like to personally thank all the wonderful people that have already donated their time, money and their hearts,” Lengyel said in a release. “Without these people, we would not be able to do what we are doing for our troops.”

The shipping cost ranges from $1,000 to $1,500 depending on the weight of the boxes. Lengyel is seeking donations of supplies and money to offset the shipping costs. Military edition grooming kits are also available at Personal Pampering for $13.

For more information or to donate, call Dolly Lengyel at (203) 729-3328 or Joanne Phinney of VFW Post 1946 at (203) 729-8068.
