NAUGATUCK — Borough resident and author Dr. Jerry Labriola’s latest mystery novel “Object of Betrayal” is set to hit the shelves next month.

“Object of Betrayal” follows the character of Matt Doyle, a naval hero who is haunted by tragic experience from Vietnam. The novel is the 12th book Labriola has written since he retired from practicing medicine 15 years ago. He has written eight mystery novels and co-authored four books dealing with forensic science with Dr. Henry Lee.

Labriola practiced medicine for 35 years and was an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut Medical School. As chief of staff at Waterbury Hospital in the 1970s, Labriola began writing contributing articles to newspapers on the high cost of medicine.

As the years past, Labriola continued as a contributor to newspapers only the topic had changed from medicine to politics — an arena Labriola is very familiar with having served one term in the state Senate and making runs at a few of the state’s high ranking political seats including governor.

Labriola’s writing evolved from there to the point where he began writing mystery novels.
