NAUGATUCK — Kollege Kapers’ 56th Musical Variety Show will be held May 12.

The show was originally planned for last fall, but was postponed several times due to the October snow storm. The first rehearsals for soloists will be held March 1 and chorus rehearsals will begin March 5. Rehearsals will be held at the American Legion Hall, 21 Cedar St. Former members of Kollege Kapers are welcome to join the chorus.

The show, which was originally planned as a holiday production, has been revamped. A few of the numbers from the postponed show will be sung, excluding Christmas and winter songs.

The show is expected to be the group’s last full performance and is titled “Kollege Kapers presents … The Final Curtain.” The group has been afflicted, like similar groups during the tough economic times, by declining audiences and aging members, according to a release issued by the group.

The release stated depending upon the public’s response the group may be able to hold another full show in the future. “We are trying to tell the public that it’s up to them as to whether this is the final curtain,” the release stated.

Although the show is expected to be the group’s last full performance, the group will remain viable by performing smaller shows at local health care facilities and helping at local civic functions, promoting music and the arts in the borough and continuing its scholarship program.

“Kollege Kapers presents … The Final Curtain” is scheduled for May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Naugatuck High School. Tickets from the postponed show will be honored. For more information, call (203) 729-7453 or (203) 879-1104.
