PROSPECT–On the cold rainy day before Easter, over 300 runners and walkers turned out for the 5th annual Prospect Lions Club 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk to benefit the local residents in need and the Yale Eye Research Center.

Despite, the icy rain that fell on the 38-degree day, the event was a success. The club made a donation to the research center, as it does every year, and was able to set aside money for Prospect families in need, which is often distributed during the winter months when heating bills are at their highest.

Additionally, the Prospect Lions Club sponsored a free macular degeneration eye screening for Prospect residents at Vision Associates of Prospect on Aug. 5 and 6, which was a big success. The Lions hope to sponsor a similar screening next year, and welcome other professionals who feel a partnership such as this, with their business, might aid Prospect residents in the future.

The Lions Club extended its gratitude to Dr. Lawrence Kline, Dr. Patricia Youngquist, and Dr. Catherine Gelinas of Vision Associates along with the all the runners and businesses that made the 5th annual Prospect Lions Club 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk a success.
