Phoenix theater holding auditions

Thursday, September 29, 2011

NAUGATUCK — The Phoenix Stage Company is holding open auditions for its production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.”

The theater is looking for an ensemble of five to 10 performers male or female for this production, including an “Andrews Sisters type” girl-girl group for vintage radio commercial jingles. All auditioning will be asked to read from the script.

Inspired by the film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Five to 10 actors perform the dozens of characters in the radio play as well as produce the sound effects.

Auditions are scheduled for Oct. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Phoenix Stage Company, 686 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck.

The show will run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Nov 25 to Dec. 11.
