Editor’s note: The article, “Wrong-way driver injures members of borough family,” which appears on page 5 of the July 8 print edition of the Citizen’s News, incorrectly reports the facts of the accident due to a mistake on the police report. The following is the correct version.

WATERBURY — State police have issued a corrected version of the events leading to an accident Sunday night on Route 8 in Waterbury.

The original police report stated that 59-year-old Jonathan Whitlock of Cheshire was driving the wrong way on the highway when the accident occurred.

Police now say that Whitlock was traveling south in the southbound lanes when his car collided with a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Joseph Dalessandro of 54 Dunn Ave. in Naugatuck, who was going the wrong way on the highway.

Dalessandro’s vehicle struck Whitlock’s car head-on, police said, causing Whitlock’s car to collide with a third vehicle driven by Susan Crowley of Naugatuck.

Whitlock suffered a laceration to his knee, as well as injuries to his back and neck. He was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital.

Crowley and four passengers in her car were transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital on Sunday for treatment of injuries that police described as minor.
