Area agencies hosting Senior Safety Day

WATERBURY — The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging and Waterbury TRIAD have scheduled a Senior Safety Day for Wednesday, June 22.

The event will be held at Crosby High School, 300 Pierpont Road, Waterbury, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature several speakers, who will discuss a variety of topics.

Mark Dixon of Channel 3 Eyewitness News will explain how to deal sensibly with severe weather.

Jon-Paul Correira, a special agent with Medicare’s Office of Investigator General, will talk on how the government is cracking down on criminals who attempt to steal money designated for senior health care needs and how you can help prevent that from happening.

A representative from U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal’s office will be on hand to talk about constituent services for the elderly.

Seniors will also learn how to fight fraud by becoming a Senior Medicare Patrol volunteer or by joining or forming a local TRIAD chapter.

Coffee, a light breakfast and complimentary lunch will be served.
