Presentation on drugs coming to Woodland

BEACON FALLS — The Region 16 Prevention Task Force is sponsoring a presentation on drugs Thursday, May 19.

The topic of the presentation is “Alcohol and Drugs in Our Own Backyard,” and will feature three keynote speakers.

Attorney Michael Lynch will speak about social hosting and the law.

Mary Marcuccio, founder of the Southington-based Parents 4A Change organization, will speak about her own personal experience of dealing with a child who abuses drugs.

Wayne Kowal, a state trooper from the Connecticut Statewide Narcotics Task Force, will talk about current drug-related trends and threats in Connecticut and provide information about on identifying possible substance abuse indicators.

The evening’s discussion will cover other issues as well. The content of the program is not suitable for children or teens. The community is encouraged to attend.

The presentation is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm and will be held at Woodland Regional High School.
